Diabetes  l&ll

Diabetes is a disorder in which your body cannot utilize carbohydrates, such as rice and pasta caused by a lack or ineffectiveness of the hormone insulin. Diabetes is classified into type I and type II. Both share similar symptoms and complications of hyperglycemia (high blood glucose).

Type 1

The pancreas is damaged and produces little or no insulin

A. Causes

1. Chemical additives in food

2. Environmental exposure: chemical toxin, virus, stress.

3. Autoimmune reaction: your immune system attacks the body’s beta cells in the pancreas that    produce insulin and destroys them.

4. Genetic predisposition.

Type 2

The pancreas produces inadequate amounts of insulin

A. Causes

1. Chemical additives in food

2. Your pancreas produces small amounts of insulin but not enough to meet the body’s demand.

3. Hormonal imbalance (cortisol increase) caused by being overweight

4. Insulin resistance: your cells reject the body’s own insulin and glucose is unable to be absorbed into cells for its use as energy
